Group advertising cost has changed by lowering some prices

April 10, 2011 by Glaznah Gassner

We’ve revised the advertising prices of all groups exposed at GroupCast. It turned out that some publishers set the inadequate high prices for IMs and/or Notices.

We’ve changed the price regulation mechanism for publishers and lowered the advertising prices (the rest of the post is interesting mostly for publishers).

Details

The high prices a wrong way to “earn” money because  regularity is the key to success of any advertising campaign. By establishing the extremely high prices publishers prevent advertisers from buying the ads again (and also lower the publisher’s earnings accordingly).

How do we manage this now

Now publishers don’t set the exact price directly, but set the desired price coefficient instead. System multiplies this coefficient by the average system price, and you see the final price.

The system price is being calculated depending on the group size (large groups cost more).

This provides the additional benefit for growing groups: your advertising price automatically increases as well.
